I am Beating My Drum On The Street

I  am back on the street

I  am not dancing to the world's beat

I  am not selling sex and drugs

I am advertising  God's love and mercy
Giving it away to anyone who will receive it

I am back on the streets

I  am not dancing to the world's beat

I am following the path that so many faithful servants have trotted down before

I am following the path Jesus has laid

    Calling all to repentance

    Calling all to new life

    Calling all the needy
     to have their burdens relieved

I am not selling sex and drugs

I am not trying to con you out of your money

I am freely giving God's love and mercy
     to whoever will receive

     I am beating my drum
fore all who are weary and tired of dancing to the world's drum

     I am beating my drum
fore all who desire to learn how to dance to the heart beat of God

I am back on the street
      I am beating my drum
Because freely i received so freely i give

Stephen…Amen! Excellent write! The scripture is clear…we must go out into the highways and by ways and compel them to come and inquire about the "call to repentance"  I remember ignoring the call when I was young.  But when I did finally hear…oh, how glorious that day…it was and is wonderful.  I had a prison ministry and went out into the streets where the prostitutes walked…prayed, passed out condoms and clean needles.  I was always surprised by the number of people who knew the scripture, who was raised in salvation and that had simply walked away thinking they could do a better job for themselves.  They seemed to think that salvation was a burden.  As it is written freely you received so freely you must give!

Valerie,

It always make me wonder why so many Christian artists who God has blessed them with so much talent, turn from using their gift as a sacrificial offering to God by using them to reach the lost.

In stead they use their gift to fill their life with reaches that will perish by rust, eaten by moths, and stolen by thieves.

But they once in a while will tell the media  they are Christian.

Yes, I agree.  When I lived in Chicago I worked with a group who organized a large black gospel revival.  It was my job to contact some of the most well known singers and ministers to "invite" them to come and sing or preach the word.  Well, imagine my surprise when I was given a list with prices regarding a long or short testimony, or how many songs they were going to sing, etc.  I was appalled!  Some of them refused to attend because we could not pay them what they demanded!  The scripture says that the Word is free.

Stephen, this is what God wants us to,  Spread the word of God to all who will listen and some that might not. This is a fine poem about God and life here on earth! Good job, Anthony
