Poem -

I Am Night

I Am Night

It is in the subtle awareness
Of my tortured soul
Where I sometimes find
That I am night...

I am a string of pearls
On a hot dancer
Sweating in the night sky
Spinning slowly into celestial recesses
Wrapping myself around all things
I am night...

With a mutating appetite for light
I am night
In a black hole's emptiness
I am night
Like a drunken, broken, man
I brood in the light
And smile in darkness
I am the veil
I am night...

I am a funeral procession
The pallbearers that come marching
At sunset
I am night
The coldness that comes at death
The final breath
I am night...

This magical creation has a fluidity and complexity which is to be marvelled at. No one can put a slant on a topic like you, which causes the reader to either consider perceptions or assess their emotional attachment to it.

You have an original perspective to share on most themes.

Masterful use of your poetry skills.

Take care my friend.  :)

Hello Tony...

I hope you are well!

You have actually brought different life to the darkness...

Living in the mountains when there's no moon and no stars it's so dark you can't see anything because there's no lights when your closest neighbors houses are far away and unless they have a light on you can't see them...

If it wasn't for the daylight I wouldn't even know they were there...

Great write my friend!

Hugz and Smiles!

Teacher Tony..

I am fascinated with darkness...

My life hides beneath its shadow..

Eventhough my soul scream for the light... It's in the clinched fist of night

all of my flaws and faults are hidden from prying eyes..

A handful of stars... This one pinned to my wall dear friend..

I Am Night...this flows so effortlessly off the tongue. Each and every line brings a new image to mind. my favorite would have to be:

Spinning slowly into celestial recesses
Wrapping myself around all things
I am night...

The words are so enchanting. Giving life to the night. some find comfort in darkness others fear or sadness. I find comfort in the night. I dream of one day living some place where there is no pollution so I can gaze upon the stars every night.

I also get migraines from bright light so I love the dark. i'd sleep during the day and be up at night if I could.

Great write! :)

Atlanta, so I rarely see stars. When I visit my father in Kentucky I always sit outside and star at the stars for a good 30 minutes each night because they're just so beautiful and peaceful. I really want to take an astronomy class. My uncle used to know all the constellations my dad tells me. Hopefully within the next few years my father and I will have moved in together and be living somewhere just like that near my family.

My Dear Brother Poet Tony,

.

The darkest of his prophecies

Bring fear to all our hearts

For he paints himself a troubled man

With only endings, never start

.

His pain is ever present

His lamentations so very dark

But some day the light will shine again

In thanks, the Angels shall you hark

.

Peace, Love and Rockets,

Larry xxx

Dear Brother Poet LARRY!!....... you said to me in a recent comment how you enjoy to comment as much as write ........its a natural gift........ one of my favorite quotes is .."To read is to write, to have written!"....... and you my friend leave comments that are beyond the poem itself....... sometimes I feel unworthy of them...... and then I realize you are enhancing what Inhale written...... Love you for that!!........thanx so much my friend!!......LOVE and ROCKETS !!........T xo ?☀✴✳♥

My Dear Brother Poet Tony,

In the Renaissance, many great Old Master artists would paint a good part of their masterpiece, then have their students finish the backgrounds.  When I comment on your brilliant poems, I feel like one of them, just putting the polish on the masterly work of a virtuoso.

Peace, Love and Rockets,

hey T, love the tone of this poem, it struck me right away... has this classic romantic feel drawing deep emotions using natural imagery....I'm obsessively consuming John Keats and can see style similarities here, to be honest I avoid reading 'dark' themed writes but beautiful poetry can never be truly 'dark', in my opinion....I came away from this poem feeling uplifted, refreshed....even though the narrative speaks of death and night it is not sad, and that is quite remarkable....your poetic instincts are impeccable; pushing all the right buttons...so I promise not to shy away from the 'dark' ones in the future, at least not when you or John Keats moves the quill, cheers poet, top of the food chain...

Hey dear Poet Brother CHRIS!!....... I'm not quite sure how to reply to this most excellent comment....... as you know I'm a Keats fan myself......I think you read my tribute piece for him......... your comments ALWAYS blow me away....... the fact that you said you would not shy away from the dark ones is such a subtly powerful pat on the back....... makes me admit to you now ......that this ....for me..... was not a dark write...... but a search for the light......I am ever aspiring to the metaphysical possibility of discovering an as yet unknown link to the spirit that connects us all in one creator........ you're the only one to touch the heart of my write......I thank you my friend...... greatly!!....... your friend and admirer........T xo. ?☀✴✳
