I can hardly open my eyes

I can hardly open my eyes

Why are my eyelids heavy ?
I can hardly open my eyes
Am I under the weather ?
Perhaps I need more exercise ?
Whilst it isn’t even teatime yet
The big hand on my clock is on the three
Well I have hours of awake before my bedtime
Oh whatever is wrong with me ?

So I go to my bathroom sink and splash cold water all over my face
I cannot comprehend this sleepiness
I think I need to get out of this place
Wrapping myself up with coat, hat and gloves
to keep out the wintery chill
I wander along the wooded avenue
coz I have an hour to kill

There you go
That’s done the trick
I am feeling wide awake
Infact I am so energised as I stroll along the milk pond lake
I get carried away in the heat of the moment
Walking far and wide
and by the time I get back home again the daylight has died

Well my eyes are on full alert
I am watching the tv
David Attenborough’s wildlife is marvellous
It is a delightful documentary
Now Hubby’s put the television off
It is time to go to bed
But guess what I am WIDE AWAKE
with no sleep at all in my head
