I Can Only Be Me

Many days I seem to wonder

Why everyone's the lightning and I'm the thunder

I differ in many ways

At least that's what people continue to say

What I believe in, to some may not be right

But that's what I believe, and for that I shall fight

I am aware that there are people who won't like me to an extent

To them, they're the perfect rulers and I'm the one that's bent

That's only because they have a great life, so when they look at me they don't understand

That I'm a soaring eagle, and all I'm looking for is a safe place to land

There are things throughout my life I want to explore and see

But that I have no way of doing, if I'm not able to fly free

I'm trapped inside this tiny dark ball

And I'm getting the feeling I'm beginning to fall

And regardless of what people say

I won't be the one to lay

My thoughts and actions to rest

For I shall let my opinions manifest
