Poem -

I Couldn't Find My Voice

I tried to defend myself. I tried to speak.

I tried to act as if my heart wasn’t meek.

I tried to plead for help. I tried to ask someone to hold me.

I tried to pretend as if I wasn’t truly lonely.

But…I couldn’t find my voice.

I tried to pray. I tried to say all I had to before I lost you.

Then the casket lay at the end of it all and my nightmare had come true.

But...I couldn’t find my voice.

I tried to cry. I tried to sob. I tried to open up the heavens above.

I tried to whisper. I tried to leave. He just wouldn’t let go of me.

But...I couldn’t find my voice.

I tried to act as if pain didn’t exist. I tried to pretend like you weren’t there.

I tried to not miss how every time my heart would lift.

I tried to run away from it all. I tried my best not to fall.

I tried my best to not give my love away at all.

But...I couldn’t find my voice.

I tried to not break down. And I tried not to look in the mirror.

I tried to pretend the meaning of love was not at the tips of my finger.

But...I couldn’t find my voice.

My voice was no longer needed. I had found my heart instead.

Your shoulder is where my tears ran & you let me lay my head.

You let my world turn with yours as I tried to run from all the above.

Then my voice arose back to life because you’ve showered me…

With Love.

Without love and without you…My voice would still be lost.

But now I have two answered prayers since I have found you both.
