I Know This Place

l know this place, l've been here before.
it looks so familiar, but doesn't sound right,
maybe it was one dark night.

l know this place, l've been here before,
l'm if l sound a bore,
But there's faces, without faces,
and unfamiliar clothes with no graces.

l know this place, l've been here before,
look over there, l remember that store.
Maybe l dreamed it, because something's not right,
the place that l knew, was airy and bright.

l know this place, l've been here before,
people are talking, but l know not what they say.
Should l come back another day,
But l know this place, l've been here before.

Feeling tired from all this walking,
mind exploading, from all this talking.
A cup of tea, and a slice of cake,
here's a place l can take a break.

I know this place, l've been here before.
Will l be understood, or have to mime,
sure l'll get through, some way, some how.
A cup of tea and a slice of cake l say,
in the very strangest way.

l know this place, l've been here before.
Wait a moment!, l know that face,
its Doris, from next door of my place,
I look around, and to my amazement find,
I've been here before, for sure.

Yes, l know this place, and what used to be,
But no longer is this place for me.
l knew this place.
