I looked up.

The words punched down the walls, crippling the steady beat.
The sound of thunder crashed through the room like silent whispers.
Dividing cells mirrored the pieces of them that shattered on the ground.
I could feel an earthquake beneath my lap –
when I turned to speak I drowned. Naivety was the only blessing –
my innocence clung to every word.
For me it was just the beginning. Nature was calling,
such blissful ignorance.
A bright light caught my eye – I looked up
He greeted me. His hands were outstretched – with a loving grin.
"Look mummy, he wants to play". And a silent response was all I knew –
And voices were raised. And sound attacked me like death hounding the weak.
Hounding me. And death filled my body –
quicker than tears pricked at my eyes. He came up close and ripped off my white dress.
And my white dress turned red. He spoke so clearly as for no mistakes to be made –
His voice distinct and soft. They thought I wouldn't understand.
"She has cancer"
I understood – that was the day the devil called.
