I Loved My Little Brother

I Loved My Little Brother

I loved my little brother, just like I knew that he loved me;

From the moment that we got him, I was happy as could be!

Mommy was afraid I might reject him, for I was an “alpha” through and through;

But Daddy told her not to worry, that I would love him very true!

So he called up the Bichon breeder, that they had bought me from;

She said my doggie Mommy had birthed some puppies, and that weekend, we could come!

We went down there early Saturday, and when we walked into the door;

I saw my doggie Mommy standing, then to her side I tore!

Mommy and Daddy checked out all the puppies, while she and I gently played;

We left in about an hour, for a decision needed to be made!

We came back on Sunday morning, to select my little bro;

He was the feistiest of all the seven, chasing his siblings to and fro!

We rode home in the back seat with Mommy, him resting atop her lap;

I sniffed all over his little body, while he took a little nap!

We got home, and when we walked in, he and I ran around and played;

He gave me little puppy bites, then got tired and by me laid!

We decided to name him “Cody”, the last two letters of “Nico”;

He loved me very dearly, and followed me where e’er I’d  go!

I loved having a new friend and a Brother, to keep me company;

Each day I taught him all I knew; soon he was just as smart as me!

For twelve years we loved and frolicked, we never were apart;

But I developed a bad condition; that attacked my little heart!

One night I had to leave him, and rise to Heavens’ Gate;

Now I can see how much he misses me, my Brother, my soulmate!

I will be waiting for us to be back together, on the day he joins me here;

And we’ll never have to part again, he always will be near!

Then when Mommy and our Daddy’s time comes, they will rise to us above;

And we’ll be one big happy family again, eternally in love!

Hi Dear Cherie,

We just got tears in our eyes as we read your heartfelt thoughts on Nico and Cody.  They were inseparable from the first moment, and it was such a beautiful thing to experience for twelve years.  One of our favorite games they used to play was a "Tug O' War" over a stuffed animal.  They would both be doing these little loving growls as they pulled on their hind legs, trying to get the other to release it.  These cherished memories will be with us forever!  Thank you for your lovely words.

All our love,

Linda and Larry

I think Nico just loves this piece because it tells us all about the way you all came to be a happy family. I love the photo of them together, they are just adorable. My Nero and Ellwood George are inseparable too. Nero is 8 now and Ellwood is 5, two very different breeds but they are like father and son. Ellwood jumps around very energetically like a staffy because he has been brought up by Nero, it`s great fun when they play because Ellwood being a french mastiff is huge, it`s comical to see such a big dog jumping around like a demented kangaroo as does Nero, he`s a typical staffy, hyperactive and full of energy, so Ellwood thinks it`s the normal way for him to behave too. Nero had to stay over-night at the vets last year because he had an infection in a cut paw, and Ellwood spent the whole night crying for him, it was awful to see him so upset, they are inseparable and do everything together, they are my boys and I just know they would love Nico and Cody too.

This piece is just beautiful my Larry and Nico is very proud of his daddy.

I love you both

G xx

Hi Dear G,

Your beautiful recounting of how your Ellwood and Nero are inseparable, has brought back beautiful memories and engendered bountiful tears.  When you speak of how Nero had to leave his soulmate Ellwood for surgery, and how Ellwood cried the whole night, tore our hearts apart, for Cody was the same way.  Nico had to have some serious surgery when he was nine years old and had to be away from us for a few nights, and we were afraid that we would lose our precious Cody for all he did was pout and ate almost nothing.  It is so beautiful to watch the love between our dear doggies.  We never thought Cody would survive after the passing of Nico, but with both of us making sure he is replete with our love, and never left alone for more that our 1/2 hour walk each morning, he is still with us.  God help us when we lose him.

Love from us both,

L & L
