Poem -

I prayed at your alter

I prayed at your alter
I sank to my knees
I saw your wickedness
And how it seethed
I tried to change you
For I glimpsed your beauty
But despite all I tried
Your soul remained ugly.
I0 prayed at your alter
I sank to my knees
I saw your wickedness
And how it seethed
I offered you some salvation
You spat it back at me
I offered you compassion
But you left me berieved
You are benighted
So I offer you light
You chose corruption
As if were a divine right.
I prayed at your alter
I sank to my knees
I saw your wickedness
And how it seethed
I gave it my best
But you worshipped the beast
I offer you love
Butt you always craved hate
I offered my hand
Which you tried to break
I offered you a second chance
But chose to burn at the stake
I prayed at your alter
I sank to my knees
I saw your wickedness
And how it seethed
I tried to change you
For I glimpsed your beauty
But despite all I tried
Your soul remained ugly
It was something you could not hide.
