Poem -

I SAW THE CROWS FLY

I SAW THE CROWS FLY

Let me play among the weeds
There are blossoms, berries,
And sunflower seeds.

The stream is shallow,
And the water is crystal clear.

Keep your little feet within the fence
My darling child,
And please don't stray away.

In the twinkling of an eye
Her little feet did stray
Beyond the tall oaks,
She chose to play.

A sound like thunder
Interrupting the silence of the day,
The barrel of a hunter’s gun
Had stolen her innocent life away.

I called out to the heavens,
To the invisible God, I cried,
And as I gazed into the skies,
I say the crows fly.
