As I Sit in the Shade

As I sit in the shade late one summer evening the air is still warm like a woman’s breath
The sun goes down with a sleepy yawn just as the moon comes up full of life and feeling strong
I watch as the swifts flying low darting here and darting there at rocket speeds through the air
The bats come awake from there daytime sleep thinking to themselves what’s to eat?
These are the things on a summer’s night that to me are little miracles bright.
As I sit in the shade late one summer evening thinking of life and all that’s amazing
I think to myself life is so good and how we are all so different in our own spectacular mood
And tell me this for I have often wondered why a tree is completely covered in wood
I am not sure if this is the case but why did god not make us all the same race
These are the things on a summer’s night that to me are little miracles bright.
As I sit in the shade late one summers evening I think of life and how we are amazing
But what of a baby born so still then rudely wakened with an ear bursting shrill
Before we know it we have become, that monster that can only be loved by their mum
Then we become sheep that just follows everyone, off to work then home again to sleep
So what happens then if you dare ask it, well we tell stories of life until we end up in a casket
Life is what we make of it, please remember and don’t waste it, for it is a gift a keepsake
These are the things on a summer’s night that to me are little miracles bright.
