I Stayed, I Left

I Stayed, I Left

I stayed because
I left home
I stayed because
I was nineteen
I stayed because
we had a son
I stayed because
I was scared

I left because
I couldn't take anymore
I left because
there was a trace of self-respect
I left because
I didn't want to hate him
I left because
I loved my son
I left because
I was scared
