Poem -

I was always your friend

Shattered shards
    cascaded down.
My heart lay lifeless
     on the ground.

I was always your friend
through thick and through .                     thin.
I even had your back
     when I shouldn't have been.

Is there nothing at all
     that I can do now.
 because I have a voice
     That you won't allow.

 You've moved on
like there's nothing to be gained.
 Can we go on living
    with our faces turned away?

I glance at you from outside .         shading my eyes till the .                          tears can dry.
an enclosure surrounds you
    I cannot go near
Again I turn my head,
    I fight back another tear..

New friends, new life
    Laughter and smiles
But the distance between us
    Goes on for miles.

What we once had,
     We will never have again.
But I'd like to regain something.
I don't want this to end.
If you're not in agreement
I dont want you to pretend.
And despite what you think happened,
    I was aleays your friend..
