I Was Blessed Today

With news like this, what can you do
But to pray to God to hold something true.
Memories surround and their love outpours
From those whose friendship she long adores.
Out her window is just a day, an ordinary day
As passerbys press on their merry way.
But in this room there's something new.
Another young girl has a new teal ribbon tattoo.
It's just a day, another ordinary day.
Another dose of chemo without a moment delay.
She sits by her window with longing in her heart,
To settle in remission and find a fresh new start.
With faith to move mountains and love a hug away,
She wrote these faithful words, "I was blessed today."
Because to the outside world, time moves on.
But to her the night as always darkest before the dawn.
It's just a day, another ordinary day
With loved ones gathered around pray.
Out her window the sky shines the brightest blue,
But in this room there's something new.
She spreads her wings like her Japanese cranes
As God saved her from her mortal pain.
Today we know it's to Heaven she has gone,
Because she's sends her love to us with the hue of dawn
