Poem -

I’d Be

Whenever I’m down I think of you
The things you used to say and do
The way you’d smile or say what you see
Till one day you gave up on me
See I was never the quitting type
But I didn’t want to sit and gripe
So I let you go on your way
Hoping we’d meet up again some day
The more time passes now I see
I loved you, but you didn’t love me
At least not like you might have said
Some days to me you’re as good as dead
But on those lonely, lonely nights
I remember all our fights
How we came through every one
The feeling I got when out fits were done
The one where my heart would soar to heights
The one that felt warm on the coldest nights
I thought we’d make it forever, my dear
Even so my love couldn’t keep you here
But oh my sweet boy don’t ever forget
That even now I haven’t left you yet
If you need me I’m a call away
Early morning, night or day
I’d be anything, a shoulder, a friend
I’d help you with it all to no end
I’d be what you need no matter the cost
For having you is far greater than you lost
So if you’re in need of a simple ear
To hear your secrets or calm your fear
I’ll always be waiting for your beck and call
For you, my love, I’d be it all
