Poem -

if i sleep......

if i sleep......

His heart wishes to know if i sleep
But upon closing eyes
To dream
Moments before pass by
Like the storm of which he speaks
I see the stars in the night sky
To close eye's would vanquish such beauty
I fight with the night
Hours awake
Contemplating my next move
Life has so much vision
Yet hours lost
Nothing to prove
Like opening that can of glow worms,
but without music
No such groove
I dream in awake sleep
Rest when i can
The words have become
A limb , a third eye demand
I don't always know
what inspires me so
It's like planting unknown seeds
watching pretty flowers grow
Some times a red rose
Or a violet will show
But again a seed unknown
Can always become a black rose
No one knows
I tier from the emotions
They drain so much as the rain
Once becoming almost empty
Only fill back up again
Empathy runs so deep
His heart wishes to know if i sleep
If to close my eye's
Who shall watch my sheep
I pray to god
To watch over them
Within the night safe and sound
Until morning light
Though in my heart
I believe he is there nothing
Speaks louder
than a mothers care
I hope some day i make peace
With the night
Dreams in the dark
Once turned out the light
Being alone so long
An endless fight
Making sure they are safe
My guiding light
Until my heart is content
someone true to defend
Keeping us safe beneath stars
I shall play pretend
And dream awake beside my pen
Closings my eyes to rest
Never really falling asleep
The world has many darkened secrets,
the wolves
amongst the sheep
So until the morning light
This shepherd watches them sleep.
