If it wasn’t for cars

If it wasn’t for cars

if it wasn’t for cars
dogs could gallop across the earth
joyously in any and all directions
wild grasses, trees, bushes
would dominate as they should
there would be no potholes to fill
no greedy tolls to be paid
the people would stay healthy
communities would stay small
we’d wake up and run, climb, forage
to travel far the river would carry us along
instead of fussing with blue tooth and auxiliary cords we’d listen to song birds, gentle then roaring waters, rustling branches combed by winds, we’d even sing ourselves - making it up as we go
if it wasn’t for cars we might just be content, making the best of exactly where we are
