Ignoring the Obvious

Mum and Dad
In a world of their own
Not thinking of the consequences, that could force us to go.
Mums mind is set
She's telling dad to get
But deep down I know
That will never happen, I bet.
Dad raises his fist's
Mum crumbles to the floor She begs him to stop
But to no avail at allÂ
She screams out for help
No one seems to hear her call Except for us kids, huddled up in the hall.Â
The place has gone quiet There's no sound at all
I'm not quite sure,
If it was mum that hit the floor.
Lights beam through my window
It's the neighbors next door Discussing the altercation, they heard just before
I want to shout out, but there's no sound at all
If only my mum, could just walk through that door.
It's half past four
I've had no sleep at all
The neighbors must of heard my mum, screaming at the door
Hoping and praying, they do something to save us all.Â
This should not be ignored
All they have to do is call
And one day
Maybe some day
It will all be over Once and for all .

Great sad write and I’m sorry if it’s not fiction ..?
but welcom to cosmoÂ
WOW!! LIANA!!......I pray this is a fiction but somehow I know it's not!.... It is however an amazingly well crafted poetic narrative..... which says a LOT considering the subject matter......I think you're awfully brave to put this out there for the world to see..... and I hope that it will bring you some small measure of healing....... I'm assuming you're no longer caught up in that situation of course!!......ALL STARS!!...... well done dear poet sister!!....... and.......WELCOME to COSMO!!........LOVE & ROCKETS!!........T xo ?✴❤
Hi Liana, this reminds me of Tracy Chapman's "Behind the Wall"...This is very sad...I just hope it's fiction....I always pray for women who face domestic violence because I can't imagine how they have been able to survive the abuse.
