Poem -
Impunity
not directed at all teachers, or all youth!
Looking out my window; and what did I see?
Wondering youth; with a mob mentality.
They find a protest, while avoiding a job,
Believing the lies! might as well be a mob.
Shout; "down with cops"! media found one corrupt.
So now they imagine an excuse to irrupt!
"Don't shoot" we can menace with impunity!
Found a cause to gather hate, in unity.
Β Believing all they were taught; was truth, not theory!
Teachers indoctrinate! kids never query.
Thus, generations dwindle in unbelief!
Led away carefully; down to evil and grief.
By example, next to the window; I pray!
Hoping our youth; will find the truth someday.

Jim, again I'm late in arriving here and apologies for that hiccup.
And where to begin, but suffice to sayΒ in what you have expressed here registers alarming concern for where the youth and all the human spectrum of modern day society is heading.
For I dare say it wasn't like this in your time, you put your points over so well and detailed (and all tricky enough in a flowing sonetto of thyme).
All your concerns- and I believe technology today also plays an unwelcome and troublesome hindering part in all this.
Β A Tik Tok user most definitely instigated youths to run rampant at the recent Oxford Street (shop/supermarket sweep) thiefdom andΒ stark broad daylight civil unrest.
And of course choice.
Choosing to become what they decide and travel a dire path forward.
And a choice will remain to those who want to backtrack, in a moment of clarity.
Can't fault for you stating the word pray, a word so seldom found, heard, spoken, read or used these troubling days.
For the power of prayer knows the right path and never falters.
A bittersweet write that needs and deserves a much wider audience and a solid moral thinking poem that clarion calls social awareness my poetry brother.
