Poem -
Death in a stairwell - true stories
Spent these last few hours
In a stairwell trapped now
For 48 hours moved to another
Section unable to reach for help
Thought about my family
My dreams and the time I
Spent overseas;
Thought about mom and dad
Son and daughter - sister
And brother before collapsing into
The final heartbeat of death -
Screamed in the beginning
"Trapped; get me out"
Prayed for a bit
Cried and fainted once
Is this the end; I thought twice
Until the final moment
Passing out.
