~ In Fields Of Heather ~

~ In Fields Of Heather ~

I see not through, the pain of truth
The gods do such doom forbid
And in my despair, I find comfort there
Knowing the good works I did
So in my race, for my father's grace
Where I longed to bask forever
I was torn asunder, raped and plundered
And left to die In Fields Of Heather....

Where, a crime it is, to pray for bliss
No one can live in Hell
Where pills can't help, and doctors can't tell
Where, in your mind, you dwell
And all friends pleas, do judge with ease
Through wherefores and what-evers
And vain hopes dropped, all bullshit stopped
Pain and loneliness In Fields Of Heather....

Were I never to try, were my lips to deny
Where I never feed into my surrender
For I shall fight, with all my heart, despite
Painful screams or comfort's sweater
And yet to compare, my sins with theirs
I grow acutely aware that I'm no better
And so each night I cry, and ever I try
For the strange hand of happiness
To find me frolicking,
and jumping high,
In Fields Of Heather....

Being Me

Oh this is such an accomplished write! It is, in my (extremely) humble opinion, your best work. "In fields of heather" that has such a 'ring' to it... And such an image. The poem speaks of despair and of hope and everything in between and all within these fields of heather. I love this poem... I really do. It is so very personal yet it speaks the truth that many have known. As a poem, this is just perfect!  Pinned, of course x

Tony, this is a beautiful and captivating piece on escapism. To find that special place of solitude can be a God-send indeed. Sometimes we just create one ourselves. If it's a physical place like a camp in the woods, your back porch or an imaginary one, we can form it into a sort of oasis and elude the harsh realities of life. Misery might follow and we'll remember what drove us to solitude. In your last verse there's definitely a positive.
'And so each night I cry, and ever I try
For the strange hand of happiness
To find me frolicking,
and jumping high,
in Fields Of Heather'
When you describe the hand of happiness as strange, does it mean it's unpredictable? It does come unexpectedly at times. But, that sounds great indeed. Love this, brother poet. 5 stars and pin.

Hey Thanx MICHAEL!!…..I REALLY appreciate this most in-depth commentary on my write.....I do agree that this is a foray into a type of escapism...for pain does cause a need for it...….I do find comfort in that metaphorical place......and as for your question about 'strange happiness' and how I used it in context...….yes it does point toward unpredictability but also I intended as 'an unknown' …..a thing yet unexperienced......hope this answered your question well my friend!!…..Thanx again for this.....Lots of Love to you and yours brother!!…...peace...….T xo  : )

Tony heather is such a beautifull thing to write about it i often thought about writing about it but never did..also love the context  u used it in ..idono if u meant it but what i get from it is .its metaphore for the love / hate relationship of drugs ..love how its slightly more simpler than ur usual writes and i think it works wonderfully for the topic cuz to me it is simple ..even tho its complex when somthing is love and hate at the same time its still simple ..puts ne in the mind..to be or not too be ..or to do or not to do
.great write Tony the tiger
love peace and heather leaves ,Eddy

Hello Tony,

I do love the colour heather paints on the landscape. I think your piece truly expresses  many of us right now, who are in need of that special place to feel peace and safe. Life is a scary place right now and causes us to take stock of our lives. I always picture fields of Heather to be windswept and solitary. I think you captured that exquisitely here. Connecting it to the readers soul. A beautiful piece

Wow! What a lovely comment GWENDOLINE!!….Thank you.....I know what you mean, the world is a scary right now.....and if for a moment we, as poets, can help one person escape the fear that arouses.....then we've done something special that day (smiles)…..you do that with your words quite well......as do most of us struggling writers here......I'm so happy you're here Gwendoline.....we're all benefiting from your kindnesses!!…...Lots of Love to you and yours!!…….T xo  : )
