IN PURSUIT OF OLYMPIC GOLD

IN PURSUIT OF OLYMPIC GOLD

I am an athlete I run the hundred metre race
I represent my country the world knows my face
I write this poem about my quest for Olympic glory
Ladies and gentlemen this is my story

Eight other athletes like me waiting for the starters gun
Mind games were played before the race had begun
Ten seconds later the race was complete
I was the winner I would not be beat

The gold medal around my neck was worth all the suffering and pain
In four years time I will do it all again
Once again I will compete for Olympic gold
A new poem for the future waiting to be told
