Incursion
In my pine forest of fragrance sweet!
Pine needles stand up in rows so neat.
They peek out of collected snowy boughs,
On majestic stalwart trees, inspiring vows!
Let me witness the woodpecker's stutter!
Or the tiny birds that tweet and flutter.
Feeling the crisp cold; and seeing my breath,
The taste of alive; in a scene mocking death!
Only glimpsing shadows of the snowshoe hare,
Watching river otters; and their dancing flair!
Bugling elks, the witnessed sacred view!
Eagle and Wolf, the stark symbols of true!
The Redwood towers of majesty and fame!
My heart hurts from man's incursion to tame!

Ow, Jim, I truly miss that kind of nature in The Netherlands😱😭. All I can do is run with the Wolves in the mind. The woods are shamefully tamed by government planning in the sparse space we have (way too many people per square mile (even though we live in the outback of one of the Southern Provinces). Love this peace and the rhyme - I am too much a free spirit to stick to rhyme and meter in poetry - it always ends up sounding as well as I can sing 😱😭
Keep it up!
