Indulgence twisted

Each step I take, brings me closer to my fate,
As the world outside crumbles and shakes.
The sound of the horn reminds me I am late,
While deep inside my heart breaks...
One last look breaks my eyes to flood,
Freely flowing it streams on down,
Bringing memories of carnage and blood
And ones inability of conscience to drown.
Rip open my eyes to see the truth of lies,
That weakens my staunch engrained resolve!
To fly to war and hear it's sickening death cries,
Indeed it's animalistic pleasure does only devolve!
Forgive me my baggage I carry upon haunched shoulders,
It is deeds a plenty, willingly enacted upon a bloody stage.
It weighs upon the mind like loose boulders,
Weathered by time ready to roar down the cliff in rage!
What butcher I have become upon the fields of death,
Playing executioner without forethought of consequence?
Watching friend and foe alike gasp their last breath,
Whilst pretending ignorance at my own cognisance.
What manner of beast, does hold final sway upon my mind?
Am I a gullible fool, that feasts upon false solutions?
Mayhap it is a primal need that makes me kill my kind?
Or is it that I am weak of constitution?
One thing is true, I seek not answers
Just the pleasures of playing hades harbinger of death.

2nd poem I read today that's kinda stopped me in me tracks an can only describe as stunning...not only an in depth write but gorgeous poetry
as for the content....the last lines I reckon are lies, lies told to oneself so they can live with themselves, cis if it were truth then none of the above would have been wrote
murderer or hero ? history judges
the person themselves ? I couldn't possibly say, for Ive never walked in those shoes
AWESOME writing :)
Great that you loved it...I almost never finished it and banished it to file 13. Yet it lived...
