Ink
Inspired by one of my favourite books, Inkheart

Words inked onto fading parchment,
Smells and sounds bleeding from pages,
Light and laughter leaping from the quiet rustle,
Pages crackle and rustle as they turn,
Shot from a familiar surrounding into a world of endless possibilities,
Magic and fairies,
Pixie dust and dragons,
Escape reality into a world you have only dreamt of,
Gentle flicker of flames by the fireplace,
Quiet lull of rain on the window sill,
Gentle hum of cicadas in the grass,
Echoing roar of the distant beasts,
Silky purr of the cat on the chaise lounge,
Peace at last,
In a world your own,
Silence as the book snaps shut,
Thunder bellows proudly,
Dragging you back into humanity,
Into reality,
Back home to the darkness around you.

Inkheart, a modern classic surely? Fabulous book. And I love how it inspired you to write this lovely poem. I treasure the moments spent lost in a good book x
Yeah, I struggle to put it down even now after reading it for the third time in two days! Books are one of the worlds most amazing treasures, you can just lose yourself in a world filled with things you only dream about.
I absolutely agree with you!
