Inner Self Talk

The twist the turns the cycles, the things I still repeat,

My mind has taken the steering wheel and my heart, the passenger seat.

Not holding on to the hurt so much it's the good I wish again,

The joy I had within my heart yet the strength of a hundred men.

The strategic ways and analyzed thinking finally built me to a spot,

Where all I've wanted would come to me by applying all I've been taught.

You ask yourself how could you ever know it, a feeling you've wanted to come,

You doubt that you ever could catch it, afraid it's just another hit and run.

But you start to feel inside of you, a calling from within,

Your soul is shouting out to you and exhilarating your skin.

That old saying comes to mind the one you've heard a million times before,

It sank down deep this time, in the comfort of your core.

You realize it takes patience and the best things they come slow,

And you say the words right to yourself " you'll know it when you know"

It's a feeling you can't shrug off it's so validating and true,

You know you've done all you had to do, now it's their turn to come to you.

A spiritual feeling telling you to stop and wait,

They've kept you there for a reason, the moment you know is fate.

You've done your half for them, there's not much left now to do,

They're finishing up their journey and anxious to find their way to you.

Your soul has felt claimed this entire time always knowing you had a match,

Then it showed up around the corner unexpectedly to attach.

Thinking back and forth to yourself not sure if this is really it,

All along the depths of your heart you doubt it not one bit.

Your mind has stepped down because you know how much you feel 

Those thoughts are sliding over and your heart has taken the wheel.
