Innocence

As children we believe in everything,
We are innocent,
Never suspecting that one day is all it takes to change us forever.
The day we all look back on and frown.
It happens on a normal day,
Starting out with love and hope.
Then like a nightmare destroying a picture perfect dream,
It happens.
It's a sickness to our minds at first,
Then it moves on to our hearts,
The core of our innocence.
The stars shine less brightly,
Pain and death become our normal days,
A light is put out,
Never to be brightened again.
