Introduction

I dont have an English PhD
I did ok in my gcse"s
But A levels weren't for me

I didn't go to university
The school of life's
Where I got my degree

I wasn't drunk at freshers parties
2am was night feeds
And changing stinky nappies

I didn't study the bards
It was Dr Seuss or Roald Dahl
Gruffalo book made of card

I read to my little boy
Silly voices and giggles
Our faces lit up with joy

I started to read for me
JK Rowling emersed in magic
Austin in love and tragedy

I began to put pen to paper
When life was hard
Or I was filled with anger

I wrote my thoughts and feelings
Pages absorbing the words
Lines of ink giving healing

I found power in poems
Sharing my own truth
If I'm a poet, aren't you?
