Invisible illness
You're not alone
Have you ever created an alter ego? Put on a front for so long?
People believe that they know you but they are all so very wrong.
When you suffer an illness that's not physical and not in plain sight,
They don't understand how some days are a hard battle to fight.
You think it's a weakness, think no one is there, they can't see,
So you change who you are you don't want them to see your real me.
But how long can you carry on before even you forget who you are?
Open up, they will listen, don't shut them out keep the door ajar.
It's about time it's made easier for this to be spoken about,
There's no shame in mental illness, speak out you will feel better no doubt.
If we are all honest and we reach out, create awareness and support,
You will realise you're not alone in this and that's half the battle fought.

If I have personally met someone and got to know them that doesn't have some form of mental illness, I'm not aware. We all are given weakness of one form or another to keep us humble or help our personal circumstance to grow and progress. Most people just hide their weakness well. Yes it is great to bring it into the light that we all can learn from each other. My humble opinion! I love courage! Nice write!....................Jim
Thank you for your comment Jim... And what you said is the message I want to send out... That you are not alone and mental illness isn't uncommon.
A fabulous awareness write, Samantha. Mental illness is very common, too common and it needs to be something that everyone is made aware of. It is time for the stigma to be cast aside x
My thoughts exactly... I hope anyone that suffers with mental illness and reads this will find some inspiration and courage from it to find the confidence to stand proud and help make people aware and give them a bit of understanding about mental health xxx
I hope they do too x
