It was a balmy night in Manchester.

It was a balmy night in Manchester
The city was at its best
But in the foyer of the arena
Lurked a lunatic in a suicide vest.
The concert being just about ended
Many people now head for the street
Young girls excitedly chattering
On the lookout for parents to meet.
On such an enjoyable night as this
Nobody could possibly have guessed
That in the foyer of the arena
Lurked a lunatic in a suicide vest
In one blindingly awful second
Lives were lost or changed for good
The noise, the dust and the panic
Dampened only by the blood
People rushed to attend to the dieing
Samaritans were many that night
Deafened by the screams and the crying
That will haunt them for the rest of their life
But good will always succeed
While these fanatics just miserably fail
Manchester folk are a hardy breed
Known for their spirit and grit.
For the victims and their families
We can do nothing now but pray
But this wonderful city of ours
Is even stronger come today.
But on a balmy night in Manchester
When human spirit was put to the test
The good folk of this city
Once again proved they"re the best
Manchester we love you...........
