Poem -

It's Her Who They See

They come to the window
Looking in
I can see them from inside
But they don't see me
And they talk but it's muffled
And I don't understand
And I try to speak
But my voice doesn't reach the surface
And the words aren't mine
And they come out all twisted
She's here

And I'm looking at her now
With her darkness
Her armour
And scars
The defensive wounds
Show clearly on her face
In the lines
And her eyes
And she's hurt
Battered and bruised
Injured
Tortured
To old and tired to go through it again
And she did it for me
It's her who they see
