JACK THE RIPPER
An ether of mystery surrounds him
Long bony fingers secure the chain to his cape
Shadows live, where recoiling daylight dims,
Licking his heels with black velvet drapes.
The lamplights glow hauntingly
As he dips into ink slicks, watching, unwavering.
Through the hybrids of a soulless night
A ghoulish hunger devours him.
We imagine a heinous distorted visage
With horrifying empty hollows afire,
A breath-taking horned beast,
Oozing evil from every pore.
Disturbing to think, his true form is hidden
His mask is your neighbour, your brother, your friend
Under the charade of normality in daylight,
But ravished by murder, come twilight.
He strikes lightning fast like a serpent,
And shazzans them to the land of the dead.
Stripping them of their earthly skin,
Disembowelling, dismembering, blood red.
