Poem -

Just Go, I'll Catch Up

Just go, I'll catch up.
Long before the shortened breath, before the stumbled stride.
I knew about the crooked road, about the bumpy ride.
I thought that if I held on tight, I'd have you by my side. But
as time slipped by, I had to release your hand, just to see if angels
fly.
For I didn't really let you go, your leaving was not the fear.
Besides there's benefits from hanging back, just for the views of
the rear.
And even now as the dust settles at your heels, and you turn
to check if I'm still there. I may have stopped to smell a rose, or
catch a breath of air.
I know it must hang heavy on your mind as to why I lag
behind. But it's really not that I don't want to be with you, it's
just about passing time.
And when the time comes when we must part, because our
time is up. Just run along, I'll be strong, just go and I'll catch up.
