Just Maybe --A Villanelle by Jude Kyrie
Maybe we are not supposed to exchange ringsĀ
Or know the mystery of distant moonsĀ
And there are love songs we are not meant to singĀ
And secret dreams dressed in far away springsĀ
Or tapestry that never leaves a broken loomĀ
Maybe we are not supposed to exchange ringsĀ
Maybe there's a bird with broken wingsĀ
In silent nights In a darkened roomĀ
And there are love songs we are not meant to singĀ
Like the air, we breathe and silent thingsĀ
Or see snowstorms in the middle of JuneĀ
Maybe we are not supposed to exchange ringsĀ
Or to find the fountain where happiness springsĀ
Or catch the moonbeams when summer bloomsĀ
And there are love songs we are not meant to singĀ
So I will write about us and what life may bringĀ
And of walking in seagrass by the dunesĀ
Maybe we are not supposed to exchange ringsĀ
And there are love songs we are not meant to sing
