Just Maybe --A Villanelle by Jude Kyrie

Maybe we are not supposed to exchange rings
Or know the mystery of distant moons
And there are love songs we are not meant to sing

And secret dreams dressed in far away springs
Or tapestry that never leaves a broken loom
Maybe we are not supposed to exchange rings

Maybe there's a bird with broken wings
In silent nights In a darkened room
And there are love songs we are not meant to sing

Like the air, we breathe and silent things
Or see snowstorms in the middle of June
Maybe we are not supposed to exchange rings

Or to find the fountain where happiness springs
Or catch the moonbeams when summer blooms
And there are love songs we are not meant to sing

So I will write about us and what life may bring
And of walking in seagrass by the dunes
Maybe we are not supposed to exchange rings
And there are love songs we are not meant to sing
