Just Maybe --A Villanelle by Jude Kyrie
Maybe we are not supposed to exchange ringsÂ
Or know the mystery of distant moonsÂ
And there are love songs we are not meant to singÂ
And secret dreams dressed in far away springsÂ
Or tapestry that never leaves a broken loomÂ
Maybe we are not supposed to exchange ringsÂ
Maybe there's a bird with broken wingsÂ
In silent nights In a darkened roomÂ
And there are love songs we are not meant to singÂ
Like the air, we breathe and silent thingsÂ
Or see snowstorms in the middle of JuneÂ
Maybe we are not supposed to exchange ringsÂ
Or to find the fountain where happiness springsÂ
Or catch the moonbeams when summer bloomsÂ
And there are love songs we are not meant to singÂ
So I will write about us and what life may bringÂ
And of walking in seagrass by the dunesÂ
Maybe we are not supposed to exchange ringsÂ
And there are love songs we are not meant to sing
