Poem -

just me

A look, a glance, an eye

That I see you hide behind.

Your mouth does not speak

 But there is no need,

 For I can read.

A life, you try to veil.

You are afraid that truth will fail

And that time will pass you by.

So stop with all your lies!

And scream out what you really feel inside!

 A fist, a statement, a handful--

You say that’s what I am.

At least I live real life.

 I’ll fight with bloody knuckles.

 I genuinely feel.

I am a brick that stands firm in what is real.

I am an envelope that is unsealed.

 But hide, be shy.

Don’t treat me like your minion

Or make fun of me for having an opinion.

You say I just make estimations.

At least I don’t make condemnations.

But at least I’m not afraid.

  And I don’t walk away.

Make fun of me for what I portray,

But at least I don’t stride

  And pretend I have pride.

You say I am loud, arrogant, and don’t deserve to be heard.

And everything I say is absolutely absurd.

   Fine!

But I’d rather be loud and state a view.

Instead of being unsure, ashamed, and rude.

At least I am not fake or blank.

Look here, at least I am real with myself and I don’t have to feign

To have friends that like me for who I am.

As annoying as I may be,

I am not the definition of hypocrisy.

I’d rather be loud, state a belief, be true, be real, be honest

       be me.

To my dear eldest
