Just My Imagination

Just My Imagination

please, don't leave me again.

I awake with a start.

Each breath I take rolls over the next.

My whole body is covered in frozen sweat.

I am awkwardly aware of my pounding heart.

My breathing calms and I am left uncomfortably awake.

I am lost in my own mind, cold and small and alone.

I close my eyes, but it does no good.

Images burnt into my brain surface.

Audio seared into my head drifts through the room.

Voices, no, not voices. Voice.

Your voice echoes off my empty walls.

I feel a brush of warmth on my shoulder,

and moments later realise it was just in my imagination.

just my imagination.
