When it causes your parents to always fight
And your dad to drive away at night
When it caused him to crash almost every car he has owned
And took him away to rehab 'cus he lost his job and home

When it causes your mother to always scream
And when it haunts your brother's dreams
And messes up your little sister's heart
Before she even had a chance to start

When it caused your best friend's dad to throw his life away
When she had to watch him slip away day by day
And now you have to watch her do the same
And trying to replace him with other guys 'cus he's no longer there to take away her pain

When it caused a guy you used to know's dad to take his own life
After he beat them all and dragged his family over hell's knife
When you saw how it left that guy with demons and cost him his sanity
And left him with twisted views and messed him up completely

When you see other people with the same problem
And even though you don't know their story you pray for them
Because they understand what it can do
And you wish everyone else would realize it too
