Knotsman

Oh Knotsman up at the top of the mast
Come down! Come down here now
And untie our tangle

Feed us some slack

Don't cut the cord

Straighten us out

You know how to wind us properly
As we ought to be wound

So that we might be put to good use
Either on the boat or in the sea

And we trust in your hands,
the best of sailers are Ye

An enjoyable poem full of imagination. May I get some back round information about the poem? It's inspiration?

Hi Katina. Some many months back, I started rereading The Lord's Prayer from the perspective of different kinds of people (like in the song by Jewel, 'What if God was one of us, just a stranger on a bus?') ... this is one of my many poems reinterpreting the traditional prayer, "Our Father Who Art in Heaven"
