Lady Death

Death beckons me,
shall I let her in?
she comes from the dead of the night,
her red eyes gleaming so bright.
I stare at her,
she stares back..
She gets close to me and whispers in m ear
"Come to me, and I will set you free."
I stand there mesmerized by her soothing voice,
thinking I have no choice.
She takes my hand,
she kisses me..
Her kiss is so cold..
I see her in the sudden moonlight,
she is so white,
it's really a very frightening sight!
She smiles,
her smile is so cruel..
We stand facing each other,
as if we might fight in a duel.
I close my eyes and let her guide me..
She grabs my hand,
tighter and tighter..
She leads me deeper into the unknown.
I begin to cry, tears of anguish,
tears of sorrow, tears of pain..
It's too late,
I can't escape..
Her grip is like a vise.
Now I know,
there's nothing to do..
I stand at the beginning
of my own and inevitable demise!

Great poem Mara and with  a powerful overlay in death being that of a lady, quite a twist to the old klesha.
