A Lady Responds to a Proposal

A Lady Responds to a Proposal

You have asked for my most cherished thing

That was blessed by the maker above

A lady’s heart, a lady’s life

And a woman’s undying love

You ask for this priceless thing

That men have died to enjoy

Yet you did ask for this

As a child might ask for a pleasing toy

You weave sweet and tender words

Of the love that you can bring

These are gifts from ordinary men

Whilst I would need a king

To have a kingdom called my home

Where he shall have me for his queen

To work and raise our family

And be the happiest we have been

My youthful maiden’s beauty glow

One day will fade away

Will you love me the same in winters chill?

As you did in my blooming May.

This lady will require of you

To be faithful and be true

You must vow to all these things

Before I will marry you

LOL

Bit old fashioned I think

But then

I may be that also
