Late Night Fears

Late Night Fears

Against my better judgment...
Here I am again
Content to spill emotions through
A keyboard looking pen
And though, I love the ones who listen
And who care to see my works
What may count as idle beauty
Often yields so little perks
So why do I return
To this self-induced inflection?
A fraction of my thinking
In a less grotesque reflection?
The answer is though charming
Not the least of what it seems
For, the beauty of the poet
Is the axis of the dream

I feel as though I violate that love
With idle whining
And never seem to see the bigger view
Or silver lining
And every trodden road may yield
Another trodden road
So what's the point of mining gold
If I'm consumed with only mining?

Do I ever really enjoy it?
Do I ever win the prize?
Am I content to watch it crumble
Right before my very eyes?
And what could be the meaning?
Could it answer why I'm here,
If everything that makes me...
Is everything I fear?

As an explanation for the photo which would otherwise be random (haha), I wrote the poem while listening to a few of my favorite old school jazz compositions in a very "noir mood" lol. Love you guys, be curious!

"For, the beauty of the poet

wow I have to admit I never saw that line coming, a powerful line open to much interpretation. Great stuff. I agree it had somewhat of a noire feel to it but could always be improved upon. Congratulations on that nomination bro!
