Poem -

Lay rest to me; your child.

Lay rest to me; your child.

Death has his hand on my shoulder and I can feel my mind giving in.
The ignorant invincibility I believed I had has made a mockery of me.
In this moment the legacy I leave means nothing.
The sand underneath my feet becomes heavier with each step, slowly lowering me into my unmarked grave.
Just when I had lost all hope, I gather solace in my hands.

The sun; it speaks to me…
Hush young child, your wounds will soon mean nothing.
Become the Earth and in return I will show you the love you so desire.
Feed me and I will grant you what it is you wish.

The soft pillow of sand cradles me as radiant breath blushes my skin.

Just promise you won’t leave me to the darkness of the moon.
It won’t show me the love that you have.
Allow me the mercy of the sun in my final hours.
