Existence.
Sedimentary.
One
on top
of the
next.
Building,
evolving.
Inhabited
layers.
Cut off.
One from
the other.
Striations
of time.
Unique.
Locked in.
Inhabitants
confined.
Behave
as such.
Layer
after
layer.
Trapped
within.
Exist
as is.
Behave
as is.
Layer
defined.
Trapped
in time
and
space.

When I'm sitting at a table I grab it with both hands , I imagine holding on to the atoms that bind this, I ask myself why can't I go through it, why I can't manipulate it but then I realise I can, I can bend it with my imagination, it's layers like you say, layers we need to push past.
