Lazarus a Reincarnation

As if the Lazarus in her
is now planted deep within me
although a burning desire of the opposite
as I do not want to die
I do not want to leave this earth
untimely and tragically
nor do I wish to leave shards of my being
in a box of cremated onions
and no
I do not want to share my soul with the devil either
instead I stand on the sun and scream
I'm alive
I'm alive
I'm here
I am simply mixing it up for Sylvia
her absence has left a hole in worlds middle
her layers of onion never seen in truth and shape
she generously spread her lines of her minds cries
on paper written in blue blood
whilst her angel patted her head
and brushed her hair
and I?
perhaps reincarnating her?
because she is within me
she is all the layers of my very soul
she is within all women?
in life and in death...
therefore,
I too shall devour all men.

Where to start, Sunflower?
and brushed her hair
You repeated this in another and it's curious to me. I don't understand the significance of this line, but I like it. And the ending, what any human fears really, to be devoured. Would have see her proud about this poem
This morning I read a poem called lady Lazarus by Sylvia Plath, it's her saddest poem, and one of her last because she killed herself, this was what I came to write from the inspiring poem she wrote. now read it again to see if you find the connections. Thank you so much dearest Rory, if you have never read Lady Lazarus try to read it, it's truly fascinating 🌹
Slow reply my bad, SH. Almost read everything but The colossus. Too academic. Tried, though. Too young. One of my faves, do you know it, Frog autumn? I don't understand it, but always loved it.
Can you believe I am a writer who never read a book? True story, until I was in my 20's, life's fate as my parents didn't show me books, and we were in 7 children. I worked from a very young age, then I went back to study as a young adult. I started reading Sylvia Plath only this year, I have read Dante Inferno and paradiso in italian and in English, the only book I read before that was (a boy called it) disturbed me very much, as my career has always been with children, it's different now I teach children how precious and wonderful books are and they all truly appreciates them. I'm oddly proud that I'm a writer who wasn't influenced by the greats, now I'm 50 I read all sorts. Thank you dearest Rory, for asking and it was my pleasure to share a fun fact about me. 🌹
Fun facts received. Most informative. Would not have guessed. The book Ariel by plath is my favourite. I've got two copies, the original Faber and Faber English Hughes publication and the later restored edition, Plath's original manuscript. If I'd have had a daughter, I would have fort hard for the names Sylvia, (Sylvie) or Ariel. Lol
You may still have that daughter my friend and those are both beautiful names. 🌹
