Less than impressed
A new poem

Things are much less impressive
Than when I was younger
Now that I'm older and can start to see.
Truth be woman to me were just made
To please. Needed them to smile
Like I was taking a photograph.
A cup of tea needed four sugars in.
Walking through unknown suburbs
In new towns lifted my spirits.

I love these little snippets and thoughts that lead the reader nowhere in particular yet leave a smile on the mouth...😊😊
Oh, I'm a great one for complexity with the written word, Marion. At least I use to be. Unlike spoken language, which as an art form unto itself, I feel should be direct. It stands with me however, on paper, one can afford certain liberties, no? The creativity in creative writing, so to speak. Writing 101 for me once was rewiring but there's also something to say for the times when, for instance, it just appears on the page. Maybe I should have written: 'Now I know in new towns what kind of suburbs these are. And I'm careful of using to much sugar, but mostly I know not to tell a girl Her face isn't that great when she doesn't smile! Oh, I've learned that mistake. She human also.'
I think it's supposed to illustrate a young man moving passed misogyny, that women are just there to be pretty.
Exactly...that's what made me smile....oh the callow youth!!
we've all been there, there was a time when I judged men by their facial hair. ...I hated beards.
and....then we grow up...thank god 😊
I love a beared man. Wish I could grow a full beard.
I send kind and hopeful thoughts for your beard 🤩
Super clever!
I really like this Rory, used to walk the streets of London alone always, loneliness is an interesting subject because you can be just as lonely when you have someone right beside you, especially if they are wrong company and you can be less lonely than ever just doing things that make you happy by yourself, I moved to entire different country by myself, and I was very lonely for the best part of 2 years, it was the most enormous learning moment i ever had, not to mention peaceful. I too went to visit the streets of interesting town, best times really I took a lot of material inside my mind. . . Now onto paper. 🌹
Beats being housebound
