Lest we forget

Lest we forget

I'm stood here in the trenches
Scared and feeling alone
Gunshots being fired
sounds of bombs been blown
I've lost some of my friends
Their bodies lay on the floor
Some are that disfigured
Can't tell who they are no more
For example my mate Tim
There's not much left of him
The beaches are full
Of soldiers just like him
And not forgetting Peter
He thought he was fine
That was until they took him too
He went and stood on a mine
Then there was Simon ,
He was a great young  lad
Only 19 you know ....
They shot him he's hurt real bad
And lastly my mate Robert
Well where do I begin ..
Having to phone his mum
To say she ll be burying him
A soldiers life doesn't end that day
Their legacy lives on
Through other family members
Your memory will never be gone
So remember to buy a poppy
And wear it with some pride
And always do the minutes silence
To remember all those who died
