Poem -
Lest We Should Ever Forget
if this requires any additional introduction, then something has already gone dreadfully wrong 💜
The low cloud formation
was spectacular
to state the obvious
and to say the very least ..
It seemed like
a well-rehearsed salute
or celebration in
honour of their sacrifice ..
The entire scene
was played out by three
young wounded
Tommies each one carved
from sheet metal
and painted in matt black ..
Not just for
its effect, on a grass verge
at a particularly
dangerous crossroads but
as a genuine
mark of respect and as a
stark warning to
everyone lest we ever forget ..
