Poem -

Liar

I sit on my own one night, Counting the stars

Tears in my eyes, Sobbing under my breath

Fighting for a love I thought was ours,

When the reality was, you put it to death.

Strangled it with your own bare hands

Hid it from sight, part of the plan.

We used to listen to our favorite bands

I guess you could say I was your biggest fan.

You spit in my face,

Crushed my heart

What a pretty waste

Where do I start?

I gave you all I had

Fought days and nights for you

But you say I went mad

On angel wings I flew

At first I used to think I soared high

But you snapped my wings in two

I flew high where angels die

Don’t worry Karma will pay its due.

I’ve been shattered in a million pieces

Folding the letters up, setting them ablaze

paying little mind to the creases

Lost in your lustful daze

You thought I was your whore

Another chore

I’m sitting on the floor

Staring at the door

dreaming of walking along the shore

I’m just an eyesore

You’re sick to the core.

But what for?

I thought you were the one

But you took the gun

Put it to my heart and pulled the trigger.

And made the whole that was already there bigger.

You lied, lied lied.

I thought you died

And no matter how hard I tried

You never swallowed your pride

No matter how many tears I cried

You still tried to hide

Your true self rolling like the tide

In my head you reside

Tearing me apart

Your voice is like art

And now we’re back to the start

You tore out my heart

I bled out for you over and over again

Was it never good enough back then?

This is an excellent write...extremely relatable. Adding this to my favorites. Love these lines:
