Liberation Theology

Our True Home

We each have a spiritual Egypt

We each contend with a spiritual Babylon

To the West are binding forces that enslave

What are the things that hold you back from your authentic Self

To the East are enticing enchantments that delude

What aspirations threaten to catch you up on the winds

Only to dash you upon the ground a rotting carcass

It is torment to be tethered like a mule for aeons

Grinding the mills of the rich

It is humiliation to trip you over by your dreams

Soaring like Icarus toward an elusive sun

From Joseph's planetary fantasies to Imran's disgrace and back again

Stop it

Stop the pendulum and build upon Zion

Avoid the brickworks of Zippora

Avert the bronze kilns of Sinai

Let Zeus' serpent remain upon the ankh

Leave Suen's pashu at its post

Trample upon your garments and be free
