Life is a Pile of Lumber

Life is like a pile of lumber.

It’s one whole tree sliced up then put back together in a random mixed up pile.

Some slices don’t fit however,

Thin, thick, big, and small slices form bumps and drops.

As you try to climb to the top, slices fall out, opening gaps.

You meet little insects; harmless and delicate,

You can meet spiders, that sneak around each slice of wood waiting for its prey,

You encounter small mammals nibbling on nuts and fruits, gazing at you.

Climbing and climbing, you feel as if you’ll fail to reach the top,

But finally, with some work and effort, you get there,

Feeling success; then, unknowingly, you find yourself putting another slice on.
